Limited Capacity seats available

In 2010, Paul Polman committed Unilever to sourcing 100% of its agricultural raw materials sustainably by 2020. To accomplish this Unilever would need to radically transform the company's supply chain: a chain that sources close to 8 million tons of commodities across 50 different crops.  This case explores the way in which this strategy in the context of Unilever's Tea business. Unilever has been successful with the first phase of its certification partnership with Rainforest Alliance, but now faces the challenge of developing a strategy for sustainable tea in developing markets like India.

Participants will engage in a lively discussion wrestling with a number of tough questions including: What is the best way for Unilever to achieve its 100% sustainable goal? Is there a business case for sustainable tea? For Polman's sustainability initiatives more broadly? Is a business case necessary?
